CLASSICAL
MODERN DANCE:
|
• |
based on the Martha Graham technique:
you’re building a powerful centre,a strong back and a good balance.
Movement is being initiated in the pelvis by an intense contraction
of the deeper abdominals, the chest is being used beautifully in spirals
and “high arches”, correct breathing is a necessity. |
• |
based on the Humphrey –
Limon technique:
you’re learning to move organically using the weight of the body,
you’re learning to challenge gravity by fluctuating between giving
in to gravity and resisting gravity, you’re feeling the instability
of an off-balance movement and the security of a symmetric balance.
Other vital elements of this technique are successional flowing movements,
the inspiring power of breath, a strongly articulated body. |
CLASSICAL
BALLET:
|
• |
Cecchetti method:
you’re learning the feeling of weight in the use of the arms and
the head, you’re learning to sense a centre of balance which is
deviating from vertical, you’re training elasticity, strength,
elevation and you’re developing an artistic sense of quality |
|
CONDITIONING |
LIMBERING &
TONING: |
• |
based on conditioning techniques
and somatic techniques:
you’re concentrating on correct breathing and on correct alignment,
you’re working at gaining a strong centre, at co-ordination, at
making the whole body more supple and stronger, at physical awareness.
